Tamil Nadu Leader of Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin on Monday accused Chief Minister Vijay of making unsubstantiated allegations against the DMK during his reply to the Assembly discussion on the Police Department.
Speaking to reporters after the DMK staged a walkout from the Assembly, Udhayanidhi said the Opposition had raised concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation during the 114-day TVK government.
He alleged that Vijay spoke for about 45 minutes, but failed to answer the Opposition’s questions and instead levelled allegations against the DMK. He said the DMK members sought an opportunity to respond but were denied permission, prompting the walkout.
Udhayanidhi dismissed the Enforcement Directorate-related allegations as mere charges that had not been proved. He said the DMK would not be intimidated by raids or threats.
He also alleged that Vijay’s aide Vishnu had control over certain government affairs and claimed to possess evidence, which he said would be released soon.
Udhayanidhi further criticised Vijay’s references to the DMK’s past, including the Sarkaria Commission and MISA, and said the Chief Minister should instead answer questions concerning the present law and order situation.
