Union Bank of India’s Salem Regional Office organised an environmental awareness rally on Friday to mark World Environment Day and promote the importance of environmental conservation among the public.
The rally was flagged off by Lead District Manager P. Senthilkumar. Union Bank of India Deputy General Manager and Regional Head P. M. Senthilkumar and Assistant General Manager Nimmi Peter addressed participants on the need to protect the environment and adopt sustainable practices.
The rally commenced from the Regional Office and proceeded up to Salem Railway Junction. Participants carried placards carrying environmental messages and raised slogans highlighting the importance of preserving natural resources and maintaining ecological balance.
As part of the programme, saplings were planted to encourage greenery and strengthen efforts towards environmental protection.
A pledge on environmental awareness and conservation was also administered at the conclusion of the event. More than 100 officers and employees of Union Bank of India participated in the rally and took the pledge, reaffirming their commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible practices.
The programme formed part of the bank’s initiatives to create awareness about environmental protection and encourage greater public participation in safeguarding nature for future generations.
