UP youth hacks ex-girlfriend to death

In a shocking incident, a 20-year-old woman was brutally hacked to death by her former lover in Rasulpur village under Aingil area of Gorakhpur district, Uttar Pradesh.
According to police, Deepak, a youth from Rasulpur, was in love with Shivani (20), who belonged to the same village. Their families opposed the relationship, after which Shivani ended her ties with Deepak. She later married another man in May this year.
Recently, Shivani, who had been living at her husband’s home after marriage, returned to her mother’s house in Rasulpur the day before yesterday. On the night of the incident, while she was asleep, Deepak allegedly entered the house and confronted her over ending the relationship and marrying someone else.
The heated argument escalated, and Deepak allegedly attacked Shivani with a machete he had brought with him. She died on the spot due to severe injuries.
Family members discovered the murder early in the morning and alerted the police. A team from the local police station reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem.
Following an inquiry, the police arrested Deepak, who has now been remanded to judicial custody.
Further investigation into the motive and other circumstances surrounding the crime is underway.
