US-Iran War escalates; Centre alerts States over Law and Order issues

Amid escalating tensions in the US-Iran war, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has issued an advisory to all State governments, cautioning them about possible law and order issues in India.
The advisory follows rising hostilities between the United States, Iran and Israel, which have triggered protests and strong reactions in several countries. Intelligence inputs indicate that developments in West Asia could lead to demonstrations in parts of India.
The Home Ministry has directed Chief Secretaries and Directors General of Police to remain on high alert and closely monitor any protests or gatherings. States have been asked to strengthen security around sensitive locations, including foreign diplomatic missions, and ensure that no untoward incidents occur.
In some States, small groups have reportedly staged protests condemning the conflict. Authorities have been instructed to ensure that such demonstrations remain peaceful and do not disturb communal harmony.
Officials said the advisory is precautionary in nature and aimed at preventing any spillover impact of the international conflict within the country. Citizens have also been urged not to spread unverified information on social media that could create panic or tension.
