Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam leader Vijay has cancelled his scheduled election campaigns in Perambur and Cuddalore as political activity intensifies ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly polls on April 23.
Vijay was slated to undertake a door-to-door campaign in Perambur. Necessary permissions had been obtained from the Election Commission as well as the police department. However, the party announced that the programme has been cancelled due to unavoidable reasons.
In a similar development, Vijay’s campaign in Cuddalore has been cancelled for the third time. Party sources stated that while permission had been granted to conduct a public meeting at a ground, the event did not take place.
The party also indicated that a request to hold a road show was not approved, leading to the cancellation. However, police officials clarified that no formal request for a road show had been received.
The repeated cancellations have drawn attention amid the high-voltage campaign phase across Tamil Nadu, with only a few days left for polling.
