Vijay Cancels Villivakkam Campaign Amid Poll Rush

Actor-turned-politician Vijay has cancelled his scheduled election campaign in Villivakkam, Chennai, amid the ongoing high-voltage canvassing ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
The State is set to go to polls on April 23, with counting of votes scheduled for May 4. With less than three weeks remaining, political parties have intensified their campaign efforts across Tamil Nadu.
Vijay, leading his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), which is contesting the Assembly elections for the first time, has been actively touring the State seeking votes. On April 4, he campaigned in Puducherry as part of his outreach.
For Monday’s campaign, permission had been sought to hold meetings in Anna Nagar, Villivakkam, T Nagar and Virugambakkam in Chennai. However, approval was granted only for a venue at Muthurangam Road in T Nagar and near SIDCO Nagar junction in Villivakkam.
In this backdrop, Vijay’s planned campaign in Villivakkam was called off, though the reasons for the cancellation were not immediately disclosed.
The development comes at a crucial time as parties step up last-minute efforts to reach voters across key constituencies.
