Vijay Sethupathi’s leadership remarks spark controversy; Vijay TV issues clarification

Actor Vijay Sethupathi’s remarks on leadership during the Bigg Boss Tamil Season 10 show have triggered a debate on social media, prompting Vijay Television to issue a clarification.
Bigg Boss Tamil Season 10, hosted by Vijay Sethupathi, began on September 6. During Saturday’s episode, while discussing contestant Shadhika’s leadership, Vijay Sethupathi said that making promises without understanding the responsibilities of leadership and blaming the opposing team when problems arise did not reflect leadership qualities.
His remarks, including his observation that a chair represents authority and that power can become an intoxicating experience, went viral on social media. While some users supported his comments, others criticised them. Vijay Television subsequently issued a clarification, stating that Bigg Boss is an entertainment programme and that its rules, format and themes are presented within a competitive game environment.
The channel said incidents, contestants’ statements and opinions, and issues arising between contestants should be viewed as part of the competition.
It further clarified that comments or incidents featured in the programme should not be interpreted as references to or statements about any individual or organisation outside the show.
The channel said all events and statements in the programme should be understood purely from an entertainment perspective.
