Actor Vijay is set to begin his election campaign in the Perambur constituency in North Chennai from March 25, as political activity intensifies ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections scheduled for April 23.
With nomination filing set to commence on March 30 and counting slated for May 4, major parties including DMK, AIADMK, NDA and others have accelerated alliance talks, seat-sharing negotiations and campaign preparations. The upcoming election is expected to witness a multi-cornered contest, with DMK, AIADMK, Naam Tamilar Katchi and Tamil Nadu Vettri Kazhagam gearing up to contest independently.
While candidates for all 234 constituencies are yet to be finalised, sources indicate that Vijay is likely to contest from Perambur.
In preparation, a bungalow has been arranged at Kannadasan Nagar near Kodungaiyur for campaign activities. A puja is scheduled to be held there on Wednesday morning, following which Vijay will officially launch his campaign.
He is expected to campaign in the constituency for two days, visiting various areas to seek public support.
