Fans and party volunteers of Vijay were left disappointed after his scheduled visit to the Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health in Velankanni was cancelled at the last minute.
Vijay, founder of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, had been on a spiritual tour following the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, in which his party contested independently across the State.
As part of this tour, he had recently offered prayers at the Tiruchendur Murugan Temple and later visited the Shirdi Sai Baba Temple.
Reports had indicated that he would continue the spiritual journey with visits to Velankanni Basilica and the Nagore Dargah.
Following this, a large number of supporters gathered at Velankanni, raising slogans in support of the party.
However, Vijay did not arrive as expected, and it was later learnt that the visit had been cancelled.
Disappointed supporters dispersed from the premises after waiting for several hours.
