Vijay’s Campaign in Namakkal: Traffic Chaos as Thousands of Party Cadres Gather

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay’s campaign in Namakkal today drew an overwhelming crowd of party cadres and fans, bringing traffic to a standstill on major roads.

Vijay, who arrived in Trichy this morning by private flight from Chennai, was escorted in a black Fortuner accompanied by two other vehicles carrying his bodyguards and bouncers. Strict security checks were carried out by the Metropolitan Police and the CISF at Trichy airport, with entry barred to party cadres and the general public.

Police had permitted Vijay’s campaign on the Namakkal–Salem Road near KS Theatre in R.P. Pudur, but with 25 strict conditions — including a ban on trailing campaign vehicles, limiting the convoy to five cars, and holding TVK accountable for any damage to public property.

Despite these restrictions, TVK cadres began gathering in Namakkal since early morning. By the time Vijay’s convoy reached, thousands lined the Namakkal–Tiruchengode Road, causing severe traffic congestion. The leader greeted the enthusiastic crowd on his way to the campaign venue, where he later addressed the gathering.

Following Namakkal, Vijay is scheduled to campaign in Karur district later today. Though police denied permission at six prime locations including Karur Bus Stand Roundabout and Lighthouse Corner, approval was granted for a meeting at Velusamypuram. TVK cadres have already started assembling at the site since morning.

After completing his Namakkal programme, Vijay will proceed to Karur via the Mudalaipatti bypass road.
