Wild Elephant attacks Tourists near Mekedatu

A woman tourist sustained injuries after a wild elephant attacked visitors near Mekedatu in the Sangama forest area close to Kanakapura.

According to reports, the incident occurred when tourists were bathing in the Cauvery river. A wild elephant that had come to the river to drink water suddenly charged towards the group, triggering panic.

As the tourists fled the spot, the elephant attacked a woman before retreating into the forest. She sustained minor injuries and was admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The incident was recorded on a mobile phone by a local resident, and the footage has since circulated widely.

Forest officials rushed to the area, inspected the site and initiated monitoring measures. The incident falls under the jurisdiction of the Kodihalli police station.
