Wild Elephant damages car after feasting on Mangoes

A wild elephant created a flutter near Gudalur in the Nilgiris after breaking into a parked car, eating mangoes stored inside and later overturning the vehicle.
Bhagath Abdullah Faisal, a native of Kerala, had arrived with his friends at a private resort in the Mavanalla area near Gudalur on Sunday night. The group parked their car along the roadside in front of the resort before retiring for the night.
In the early hours of Monday, a wild elephant approached the parked vehicle. The animal reportedly broke the car’s window and consumed mangoes and other fruits kept inside.
After eating the fruits, the elephant continued searching for more food and overturned the vehicle, causing extensive damage to the car.
The elephant later returned to the nearby forest. Following information from the tourists, Forest Department officials visited the spot and conducted an inquiry into the incident. The incident has once again highlighted the increasing movement of wild elephants in human habitations along forest fringe areas in the Gudalur region.
