Woman arrested for strangling five-year-old son to death in Kozhikode

In a shocking incident, a 38-year-old woman allegedly strangled her five-year-old son to death at their residence in Kozhikode district of Kerala on Tuesday morning.
The accused, Anu, a resident of the Pullassery area, was married and lived with her son Harshan, who was studying UKG at a private school in the Kakkur area. Anu was employed with a private finance company in Kozhikode.
Police said Anu had been undergoing treatment for mental health-related issues for the past few months. On Tuesday morning, she allegedly strangled her son at home and later informed the police about the incident.
On receiving the information, police rushed to the house and found the child lying unconscious in a room. Harshan was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Following the incident, police arrested Anu and initiated interrogation. The child’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Further investigation is under way to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the incident.
The tragic episode has caused shock and grief among residents of the locality.
