Woman brutally murdered by blackmailer in Vijayanagara

A 28-year-old woman was brutally murdered after being lured to an isolated spot by a man who allegedly blackmailed her over a monetary dispute, triggering shock and tension in parts of Vijayanagara district in Karnataka.
The victim, Uma, a native of Vijayanagara district, was married to Ramanchenay, a resident of Andhra Pradesh. The couple had three daughters. Due to marital differences, Uma separated from her husband five years ago and returned to her native place, where she lived with two of her daughters. One child was staying with her father in Andhra Pradesh. Uma was employed at a railway canteen.
Police said Uma later came into contact with Khaja Hussain, 28. Their acquaintance reportedly led to a relationship, during which Uma is said to have borrowed money from him. Investigators said Hussain repeatedly demanded repayment of the amount.
On the night of the incident, Khaja Hussain allegedly contacted Uma and asked her to meet him at a secluded vacant plot near her residence. During the meeting, an argument reportedly broke out over the repayment of money.
In a fit of rage, Hussain allegedly attacked Uma with a knife and fled the scene.
Following a complaint, police registered a case and launched an investigation. Khaja Hussain was later arrested and, during interrogation, allegedly confessed to the crime. He was produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.
Police said further investigation is under way. The murder has caused widespread concern and fear among residents in the
