Woman declared dead found alive in coffin at Thai temple

In a startling incident in Thailand, a woman who was brought for cremation was found alive inside her coffin, leaving temple staff and visitors in utter shock. The incident took place at Wat Ratchaprasong Buddha Temple in Nonthaburi province, near Bangkok.
The temple’s official Facebook page had shared a video showing a white coffin being wheeled into the cremation area. As the coffin was placed on a cart, the supposedly dead woman inside could be seen moving her arms and head, confusing everyone present.
According to Bairat Suthoop, the temple’s Public and Financial Affairs Manager, the body was brought by the woman’s brother. The woman, aged 65, was from Phitsanulok province and had been bedridden for two years. Her health had deteriorated severely, and her family believed she had stopped breathing two days earlier. Believing she had died, the brother placed her in a coffin and took her to a hospital, as she had previously expressed her wish to donate her organs.

However, the hospital refused her for organ donation due to the absence of an official death certificate. Learning that the temple was offering free cremation services, the brother went to the temple on Sunday. But temple staff also declined cremation because the required documents were missing.
As the temple officials were explaining the process for obtaining a death certificate, they suddenly heard knocking sounds from inside the coffin. Shocked, they opened it and found the woman alive, moving her arms and slightly opening her eyes. Later, it emerged that the woman had been knocking for a long time, trying to alert someone.
She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. The temple’s abbot has assured the brother that the temple will cover all medical expenses for the woman.
The dramatic rescue has gone viral, with many raising concerns about premature declarations of death and urging stricter medical verification.
