A 38-year-old doctor from Hyderabad died by suicide after reportedly falling into depression over her US visa being denied.
The deceased, Dr. Rohini, originally from Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, had been living with her family at Padmarao Apartment in Hyderabad. She had completed her medical studies in Russia and applied for a J-1 visa to pursue higher education and training in the United States.
Rohini had even travelled to the US to make the necessary arrangements and waited for several months, hoping to secure the visa. However, the rejection of her application deeply upset her, and she returned to Hyderabad in disappointment.
Police said that yesterday, while alone in her room, Rohini consumed an overdose of sleeping pills. Her parents found her unconscious and rushed her to the hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. Her devastated family broke down upon hearing the news.
A case has been registered, and police have begun an investigation.
