Youth falls from flyover cable at Avadi

A young man had a narrow escape after falling from a flyover while attempting to climb down using an internet cable at Nemilicherry Junction on the Vandalur–Minjur Outer Ring Road near Avadi, on the outskirts of Chennai, on Tuesday.
The youth, identified as Neelakondamaji, a native of Odisha, was seen hanging from an internet cable fixed to the flyover and attempting to descend to the road below in a risky, film-like manner.
Motorists passing by and police personnel stationed in the area warned him to stop, but he ignored their appeals.
Moments later, the cable snapped, causing him to fall from a height of nearly 60 feet.
Witnesses said he briefly held on to a single wire before plunging to the ground, triggering panic among bystanders.
Despite the fall, the youth escaped with minor injuries. Police rushed to the spot, rescued him and ensured he received medical attention.
Police have begun an investigation to determine whether the youth was suffering from mental health issues or if he attempted the dangerous act to escape from involvement in any criminal activity.
A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, sparking concern over public safety and reckless behaviour on flyovers and major roads.
