YouTuber’s house robbery: youth arrested with 118 sovereigns stolen

A 30-year-old youth has been arrested in connection with the theft of 118 sovereigns of gold jewellery from the house of popular YouTuber Madhumitha at Anantha Nadar Kudiyiruppu near Nagercoil in Kanniyakumari district. Madhumitha, wife of businessman Vinothkumar of Sivakasi in Virudhunagar district, is active on YouTube, Instagram and other social media platforms. She had gained popularity by posting reels featuring different outfits and jewellery and displaying large amounts of cash.
The jewellery was stolen from her house on the evening of September 24 when Madhumitha and her husband had gone out. Following the incident, police formed special teams and examined CCTV footage from the surrounding areas. The investigation revealed two suspects travelling on a motorcycle wearing helmets and face masks and carrying what appeared to be delivery bags. Police examined footage from more than 600 CCTV cameras in key areas of the district and traced their movements.
Police said one of the suspects, identified as Isakki Pandi, 30, son of Chinnathurai of Srivaikundam in Thoothukudi district, was arrested. Police said he had allegedly planned the robbery after watching Madhumitha’s reels. Police are continuing their investigation to identify the other suspect and determine the involvement of others in the robbery.
