G. Kuppuswamy Naidu Memorial Hospital organized a kidney health awareness programme to mark World Kidney Day at the GKNM iOP Outpatient Centre in the city.
More than 150 students and teachers from BVM Global School participated in the interactive session conducted by specialists from the departments of nephrology and
urology.
The programme aimed to create awareness among students about early symptoms of kidney disease, the importance of timely medical intervention, advanced treatment options available, lifestyle changes to prevent kidney disorders and rehabilitation services that support recovery.
The session was led by Raghavendra, Medical Director of iOP, along with specialists Ramachandran and Jayaprakash, adult nephrologists, Anurega Selvaraj, paediatric nephrologist, and Manjunath, urologist.
The hospital, known for its organ transplantation services, operates a 24-hour dialysis unit equipped with advanced facilities, offering treatments including haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis under the supervision of experienced doctors and trained nursing
staff.
As part of its community outreach, the hospital has also introduced the School Health Partnership Programme aimed at strengthening health awareness among students.
The initiative includes first aid training and emergency care, regular school health check-ups, health awareness sessions and special programmes to mark important health days.
Through this initiative, the hospital aims to promote paediatric health awareness and strengthen its position as a trusted family healthcare provider in the community.
