Election Flying Squad officials conducted a brief inspection of the vehicle carrying Chief Minister M. K. Stalin near Thanjavur on Tuesday as part of intensified checks ahead of the Assembly elections scheduled for April 23.
Authorities have stepped up vehicle inspections across the State to prevent distribution of unaccounted cash and gifts to voters. Flying Squad and Static Surveillance teams are actively monitoring key locations and seizing cash or goods exceeding Rs. 50,000 without valid documents.
Stalin arrived at the Thanjavur Air Force Station from Chennai and proceeded by road to Thiruvarur for campaigning in support of DMK and alliance candidates. Ministers K. N. Nehru and T. R. B. Rajaa accompanied him.
When the convoy reached the Saliyamangalam four-road junction, officials stopped the vehicle and carried out a search. Bags and belongings inside the vehicle were checked as part of routine procedure.
The Chief Minister, seated in the front, cooperated fully with the officials during the inspection, which lasted a few minutes.
After the check, the vehicle was allowed to proceed towards Thiruvarur without any issues.
