Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam leader Vijay offered prayers at the Tiruchendur Subramanya Swamy Temple on Tuesday ahead of the Assembly election vote counting scheduled for May 4.
Vijay arrived by a private flight from Chennai to Madurai and later travelled by road to Tiruchendur. He visited the seashore before proceeding to the temple, one of the six abodes of Lord Murugan located along the coast.
Inside the temple, Vijay had darshan of Lord Subramaniaswamy and was accorded full kumbh honours. He was also presented with a ‘Vel’ as a souvenir. Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam General Secretary Anand and party functionaries accompanied him during the visit.
The Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu were held on April 23, recording around 85 per cent voter turnout. Candidates contested in 233 constituencies, with Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam fielding nominees across the State.
With counting set to take place on May 4, Vijay’s temple visit assumes significance in the run-up to the results.
The Tiruchendur Subramanya Swamy Temple, situated on the seashore, attracts thousands of devotees every day who visit to offer prayers to Lord Murugan.
