Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal assumed charge as the Director General of Police (DGP) and Head of Police Force of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday. He took charge at the DGP’s office in Chennai after signing official files.
Speaking to reporters after assuming office, Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal thanked Chief Minister Vijay for giving him the opportunity to serve the people of Tamil Nadu.
He said stringent measures would be taken to curb the movement and sale of narcotic substances across the State. He also assured that special attention would be given to ensuring the safety and security of
women.
The DGP said cybercrime-related offences would be tackled through technology-driven policing and strengthened cybercrime enforcement measures across Tamil Nadu.
Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal emphasized that maintaining law and order, preventing crime and enhancing public safety would remain the top priorities of the Tamil Nadu Police.
