4 from Haryana held for impersonation in IAF exam

The police arrested four persons from Haryana for allegedly impersonating candidates and using wireless devices while appearing for an Indian Air Force (IAF) clerk recruitment examination held at Avadi on Sunday.
The examination was conducted to fill four clerk posts, with around 1,000 candidates appearing for it. Police sources said that while checking the candidates’ hall tickets, IAF officials noticed that a hall ticket carried the name and photograph of a candidate identified as Aman Kumar. However, the person who appeared for the examination did not match the photograph.
Suspecting foul play, the officials detained and questioned him. During the inquiry, they found that Gaurav, a native of Haryana, had allegedly impersonated Aman Kumar and appeared for the examination on his behalf.
The officials then took Gaurav to the room where he was staying and found four bags. They learnt that he had come to Avadi along with three other persons. Further inquiry revealed that another person, identified as Anil, had allegedly impersonated Sunil Kumar and appeared for the examination in his place.
Apart from the two impersonators, two other Haryana natives, identified as Sawan and Deepak Kumar, were allegedly caught using tiny wireless devices inserted into their ears to receive assistance during the examination.
After completing their preliminary inquiry, the IAF officials handed the four accused over to Muthapudupet police, who arrested them.
Police sources said the investigation revealed that the two impersonators had allegedly received an advance of Rs 50,000 each for appearing for the examination on behalf of the candidates.
They were promised the remaining payment after completing the examination and securing a pass.
