Kavundampalayam MLA Kanimozhi Santhosh met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay in person on Monday and congratulated him for his firm stand in the Legislative Assembly against derogatory and defamatory remarks targeting women and the public.
Speaking in the Assembly, Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay said remarks that insult women or members of the public could not be accepted under any circumstances and asserted that the law would take its course against anyone found responsible.
Welcoming the Chief Minister’s remarks, Kanimozhi Santhosh said the stand reflected the government’s commitment to protecting the dignity, safety and rights of women.
She said the Chief Minister’s firm position against insulting women had given encouragement and confidence to women legislators. She also stressed that any act of insulting members of the public, particularly women, should not be tolerated.
Kanimozhi Santhosh said the Chief Minister’s assurance that the law would act against offenders, irrespective of who they were, demonstrated the government’s commitment to protecting women’s dignity and rights.
She met Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay personally to convey her appreciation and congratulations for his stand expressed in the Assembly.
