SRCAS hosts one-week faculty development programme on OBE and AI

Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts & Science (Autonomous), Coimbatore, in collaboration with the UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (UGC-MMTTC), Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College, University of Delhi, organised a one-week Faculty Development Programme on “Outcome-Based Education in the Age of AI: Transforming Teaching, Learning and Research” from September 15 to 21.
The programme, initiated by the IQAC, was conducted through offline sessions from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and online sessions from 6.30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
It focused on Outcome-Based Education, innovative teaching practices, assessment strategies, curriculum design, research excellence and the integration of Artificial Intelligence in higher education. The inaugural session was presided over by Dr. B.L. Shivakumar, Principal and Secretary of the institution, and led by Prof. Vimal Rarh, Director, UGC-MMTTC (GAD-MMTTC) and Professor, Department of Chemistry, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College, University of Delhi.
Prof. Vimal Rarh delivered sessions on Outcome-Based Education, curriculum design, pedagogies for OBE and assessment practices. Prof. Ved Prakash, former Chairman, UGC, also addressed the participants.
The programme featured Prof. A.K. Bakhshi, former Vice-Chancellor of Rajarshi Tandon Open University and founding Vice-Chancellor of PDM University, Haryana; Prof. Bibhu P. Sahoo, Associate Professor of Commerce, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College; Prof. Arun Julka, Professor of Commerce, Maharaja Agrasen College, Delhi University; Prof. Sakthipriya Easwaran, Adjunct Lecturer and Virtual Lecturer, Western Pacific University, Papua New Guinea; and Mohit Sachdeva, Industry
Expert.
Sessions covered curriculum design, research publication, plagiarism reduction, assessment pedagogy, examination reforms and hands-on academic activities.
In the valedictory session, certificates were presented to participants by Prof. Vimal Rarh. The programme was coordinated by IQAC Coordinators Dr. I. Parvin Banu and Dr. V. Krishnapriya, and FDP Coordinators N. Devaram, Assistant Professor of B.Com CS, and Dr. N. Mani, Assistant Professor of Statistics.
