CM Stalin Inaugurates Rs 737.9-Crore Projects in Ramanathapuram

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin today inaugurated a package of development projects worth ₹737.88 crore in Ramanathapuram district, including a new integrated bus stand constructed at a cost of ₹20 crore on a 16,909 sq. ft. site.

Speaking at a government function in Peravoorani, Stalin also opened the Social Justice Hostel for college students in Paramakudi, the Social Justice Hostel for school students in Kovilangulam, and new Higher Secondary School buildings in Thangachimadam. He further laid the foundation stone for 150 new projects worth ₹134 crore and distributed welfare assistance worth ₹426 crore to more than 50,000 beneficiaries.

Ministers K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran, Thangam Thennarasu, M. Periyakaruppan, S. Rajakannappan and other senior officials were present at the ceremony.

Highlighting achievements, the Chief Minister said Ramanathapuram’s chronic drinking water shortage had been addressed through the Cauvery Drinking Water Supply Project, implemented at a cost of ₹616 crore, with expansion work now in progress.

Turning to fishermen’s issues, he condemned repeated Sri Lankan Navy attacks and insisted that reclaiming Katchatheevu is the only permanent solution. He accused the central government of neglecting Tamil Nadu’s demands and failing to exert diplomatic pressure on Sri Lanka.

In a scathing political attack, Stalin likened the BJP to a “washing machine” where wrongdoers seek refuge. He charged that the party, aligned with the RSS, “thrives on dividing people,” and accused the AIADMK of betraying Tamil Nadu’s interests by joining hands with it.

“The BJP is a parasite that feeds on others’ strength. It is the political face of the RSS, which once conspired to kill Kamaraj. No party that cares for the people can ally with such a force. Those who jump into the BJP’s washing machine come out claiming to be clean, and EPS has been tasked with recruiting more,” Stalin declared.

He also criticized Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, alleging that while she ignored Tamil Nadu during natural calamities, she has now rushed to Karur ahead of elections for political advantage.

The event combined the launch of major infrastructure with fiery political rhetoric, underscoring both the DMK government’s development drive and its hard-hitting campaign narrative ahead of elections.
