The sudden increase in the number of crows found dead in several parts of Chennai, including Adyar, over the past few days has caused widespread concern among residents.
In an official confirmation, the Veterinary Department said laboratory tests revealed that the dead crows were infected with the IENT virus.
The finding has prompted heightened vigilance in the affected localities.
Following the confirmation, the department has issued a public advisory urging strict safety
measures.
Officials warned that areas where bird deaths have been reported must be thoroughly disinfected to prevent the possible spread of infection.
The public has been strongly cautioned against touching dead birds with bare hands and advised to immediately inform authorities if more carcasses are spotted.
Preventive steps are being intensified as a precautionary measure to safeguard public health.
