Actor Soori presents bull statue to Udhayanidhi at Palamedu Jallikattu

Actor Soori presenting a bull statue to Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin emerged as a key highlight at the world-famous Palamedu Jallikattu competition, which was held in a grand manner on Thursday as part of the Mattu Pongal celebrations.
Jallikattu competitions organised during the Pongal festival at Avaniyapuram, Palamedu and Alanganallur are regarded as the most significant in Madurai district.
The Avaniyapuram Jallikattu was conducted on Wednesday, while elaborate arrangements have been made for the Alanganallur Jallikattu scheduled for Friday, which will be inaugurated by Chief Minister M K Stalin.
The Palamedu Jallikattu competition was formally flagged off by Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin. In keeping with tradition, the temple bull was released first to mark the commencement of the event.
More than 1,000 bulls were permitted to take part in the competition, with over 500 bull tamers participating. Medical examinations were conducted for both bulls and bullfighters ahead of the event to ensure safety
and compliance with norms.
Actor Soori watched the competition along with the public, adding to the festive atmosphere.
Attractive prizes have been announced, with the best bull tamer to receive a car, while the owner of the winning bull will be awarded a tractor.
A native cow along with a calf will also be presented as part of the prizes.
The Palamedu Jallikattu once again highlighted Tamil Nadu’s rich cultural heritage and the enduring spirit of the harvest festival.
