ADMK seeks Governor’s intervention against ‘Horse-Trading’

AIADMK leader and former Minister Agri S.S. Krishnamoorthy on Friday alleged that attempts were being made to lure AIADMK legislators and urged Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar to intervene and stop “horse-trading” in Tamil Nadu politics.
Speaking to reporters after meeting the Governor, Agri Krishnamoorthy said the petition was submitted on behalf of AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami seeking action against the alleged inducement of AIADMK MLAs by the Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK).
The AIADMK alleged that MLAs Maragatham Kumaravel, S. Jayakumar, P. Sathyabama and Isakki Subbaiah had resigned from the Assembly and moved towards joining the TVK, triggering political tension within the party.
Agri Krishnamoorthy claimed that the developments amounted to “horse-trading” and urged the Governor to take appropriate steps to safeguard democratic values and constitutional norms. He also alleged that the State Secretariat was being turned into a “party office”.
In a statement, the AIADMK said Agri S.S. Krishnamoorthy, who is the party’s Agriculture Wing Secretary, Tiruvannamalai South District Secretary and Assembly Whip, along with senior leader M. Dhanapal, met the Governor and submitted the petition seeking immediate action to stop the alleged political defections in the State.
