On behalf of the Erode Kavithalayam School of Music, the 22nd Annual Tamil New Year Celebration is scheduled to take place on April 14th at the Kongu Kalai Arangam. Kavithalayam Director Ramalingam stated that this year, the festival is being organized around the awareness theme: “Let Us All Vote.”
Speaking on this initiative, Vennila, the Organizer of the Kavithalayam Women’s Wing, remarked, “Every year, our school organizes this festival by selecting various social awareness themes—such as ‘Let Us Celebrate Womanhood’ (the theme of last year’s event), ‘Let Us Protect the Ozone Layer,’ and ‘Let Us Conserve Nature.’
However, as this is an election year, our primary slogan this time is: ‘Do Not Fail to Vote!'”
Festival Highlights: Members of the Women’s Wing, in collaboration with various artists, will create artistic models of the map of Tamil Nadu and an Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) using vibrant colors and fresh flowers.
Lamp Worship Ceremony:1,008 large-sized traditional earthen lamps (Agal Vilakkus) will be prepared, along with 40 kilograms of oil for lighting them.
At 6:00 PM, members of the public may light these lamps and offer prayers for the fulfillment of their personal wishes and for the attainment of global peace.
There is no entry fee for this event. Several prominent dignitaries are expected to attend the festival and offer felicitation. Cultural Programs:
The event will feature cultural performances by students, including Veena recitals, Bharatanatyam dances, and Western dance performances eyc. Sweet Pongal and Sundal will be distributed to all attendees.
Midnight River Worship Ceremony: Upon the conclusion of the festival at 11:00 PM, all the lit lamps will be collected and released into the Cauvery River at midnight.
This ritual—performed with the prayer that the people’s grievances and troubles may be resolved—stands as the most significant event of the entire festival.
All expenses related to the event are being borne entirely by the Music School, Ramalingam said.
