Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Wednesday urged the Prime Minister to withdraw the proposed amendments to the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2026, alleging that the move targets religious minority institutions.
In a post on social media, Stalin said the amendments proposed by the BJP government were a direct attack on Christian charities, churches and other minority-run organisations.
He accused that after attempting to bring Islamic properties under control through amendments to Waqf-related laws, the Centre was now seeking to restrict foreign funding to other minority institutions.
Stalin further claimed that the Union government was planning to convene a special session of Parliament to pass the amendment, and had temporarily held back due to protests by opposition parties and the upcoming elections in Kerala.
Describing the proposed amendment as arbitrary and unjust, Stalin urged the Prime Minister to immediately abandon the move and take steps to repeal it in full.
