This year has been quite a bit of a surprise spreading chills all over the city. People of Coimbatore have been experiencing a rather pleasantly cold climate all over, than usual. Setting in with the vibes of Christmas. Nothing short of a fun filled ending to a fabulous year, December in Coimbatore geared up beginning with Coimbatore Vizha, setting our benchmark of expectations higher starting from November and thrilled us through December.
Right from jingling with carols, Candle lit sermons, socializing with Santa at Santa Social, humming with the hymns sung by Choristers, unveiling of the 40 feet tallest Snowman Coimbatore or any of South India could have ever witnessed at Prozone Mall. There were reindeer like dressed kids prancing, Santas entertaining and snow sprayed and filling the air with excitement. Lulu hosting a feast of stalls to treat us with Uptown Confetti, the list rolls on endlessly and it has truly been breath taking!!
Santa Social this year, unlike any other year, had a wide spread treat of events, contests, give aways, a flea market so fulfilling to shop till we drop, eat to our heart’s content. Even the prime roads of our city, Gandhipuram was paraded by 3,500 Santa Claus, a massive initiative, luminously organized by Lourdes Forane Church, with cheerful singing, dancing and Santas throttling cheers, riding bikes. Charitable organizations as LIMS shared their love by providing groceries and essentials for the needy.
Love made its way, shining bright in its own way in most meaningful manner even among the visionless. Jeeva Velicham, an organization engaged by a visually impaired person co-ordinator Mr.Mohan from Coimbatore, orchestrated a Christmas celebration in Coimbatore as well as Ooty by providing fittingly measured and tailor-made clothes for a total of 180 visually challenged persons including 100 men and 80 women.
