Diwali Special Sale Begins at Co-optex Outlet in Coimbatore

The Diwali special discount sale at the Marutham Co-optex outlet near Nehru Stadium was inaugurated today with much fanfare. District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar, IAS, lit the traditional lamp and launched the festive sale. The first purchase was made by Saranya Prabhu, marking the opening of the seasonal offers.

Senior Zonal Manager P. Amsaveni, Handloom Department Assistant Director Karthikeyan, Deputy Zonal Manager Lakshmi Prabha, and Wealth Department Manager Vijay Anand welcomed the guests and participated in the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Senior Zonal Manager Amsaveni said Co-optex, a cooperative under the Tamil Nadu government, has been supporting weavers for over 90 years by purchasing handloom varieties from across the state and marketing them through its outlets across India.

She further highlighted Co-optex’s rich tradition in silk saree production, especially from weaving hubs such as Kanchipuram, Salem, Coimbatore, Arani, and Thanjavur, which continue to enjoy wide appreciation among customers. To meet modern tastes, Co-optex has also introduced new designs of soft silk sarees.

For Diwali 2025, Co-optex is offering a 30% special government discount on handloom varieties across all its outlets from September 15. Loan sales for government and private company employees are also being facilitated.

This year’s collection includes silk and cotton sarees, blankets, bedspreads, pillow covers, dhotis, lungis, men’s ready-made shirts, and women’s sweaters. A unique exchange scheme has also been launched, allowing customers to bring in old silk sarees with original lace and purchase new silk sarees at a concession.

The festive sale is expected to draw large crowds ahead of Diwali.
