Extend time limit for SIR

The process of issuing SIR forms began on Nov 4th. It was announced that the filled-in form can be submitted to the polling station officials till December 4th. However, due to difficulty in filling the calculation form, it is said that only 45 percent of the people have returned it in Chennai so far. A similar situation is seen in other cities.
With only one week left, the question has arisen as to whether it is possible for most voters to return their tally forms.
Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik has said that SIR forms have been distributed to 6.23 crore voters out of 6.41 crore voters in Tamil Nadu. However, the fact is that the number of SIR forms returned is not satisfactory.
Voters who have received the forms should fill them out and submit them immediately. Only if they submit them will their names be included in the draft voter list to be released on December 9th.
If a voter is unable to find his/her name or the name of a relative in the 2002 and 2005 electoral rolls and submits the SIR form with other details to the polling station officials by December 4, his/her name will be included in the draft electoral roll. It will also be published during the final electoral roll on February 7.
If the polling station officials do not receive the completed calculation forms from the voters, voters can contact the helpline number 1913. Despite the efforts made by the Election Commission, it is questionable whether all the illiterate lay voters will fill out the SIR form in a short period of time. When the draft voter list is released, it will be known how many thousands, how many lakhs of voters have disappeared from the list.
Voters are required to fill out the forms provided to them and submit them to the relevant polling station officials without waiting until the last date, December 4. The election officer said that even if the name of the relative is not known, the form can be filled. If such explanations had been clearly communicated at the beginning, the number of people returning the forms would have been higher.
There are only 7 days left. Currently, heavy rains are pouring in the southern districts of Tamil Nadu. People are stuck in their homes. A storm has formed in Chennai and the northern districts and it has started raining. It has been announced that the rains will continue for another four to five days. People are afraid of what will happen when the storm crosses the coast.
In this situation, can the SIR work be completed completely within this one week? Therefore, the SIR work period should be extended by at least another month or two weeks. The Chief Election Commission of India should announce the extension of the period, taking into account the impact of monsoon rains, storms, etc.
Will the Election Commission meet the expectations of the people and earn their trust?
