High Court allows release of special TET results for teachers

The Madras High Court has lifted the interim stay on the publication of results of the Special Teacher Eligibility Test conducted for government school teachers and allowed the Teachers Recruitment Board to release the results.
The Teachers Recruitment Board conducted the Special Teacher Eligibility Test in July for graduate teachers and middle school headmasters working in government schools. P. Natarajan, N. Selvan and several others from Dharmapuri district had approached the Madras High Court seeking a direction to the Teachers Recruitment Board to award one grace mark for each year of their teaching experience.
During the hearing, the State government informed the court that a policy decision had to be taken regarding the award of grace marks to teachers.
Accepting the submission, the High Court had on July 8 imposed an interim stay on the publication of the Special TET results.
The School Education Department subsequently approached the court seeking removal of the stay, stating that the petitioners had not sought any interim relief and that the government was ready for final hearing of the main case.
Hearing the plea, Justice Mummineeni Sudheer Kumar accepted the government’s request, lifted the interim stay and permitted the Teachers Recruitment Board to publish the Special TET
results.
The main petition filed by the teachers seeking one grace mark for each year of teaching experience has been adjourned to October 7.
