Husband, wife arrested for murder in Cuddalore

A man was allegedly murdered by a woman and her husband following a dispute over sexual harassment in Pathirikuppam near Cuddalore. Police have arrested both the accused in connection with the case.
The deceased has been identified as Prasad (41), a resident of Sundaramurthy Nagar in Pathirikuppam, Cuddalore district.
He was found dead with his throat slit at his residence on Wednesday evening.
On receiving information, personnel from the Thirupadhiripuliyur Police Station rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to the Cuddalore Government Hospital for post-mortem examination.
During the investigation, police found that Prasad had allegedly been sexually harassing his neighbour Abitha (22). Unable to bear the repeated harassment, Abitha informed her elder sister Kavipriya (24). Kavipriya and her husband Muthukumaran (30) had reportedly warned Prasad on two earlier occasions.
On the day of the incident, Prasad, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, got into a heated argument with Kavipriya over the issue. Later that night, Kavipriya surrendered at the Thirupadhiripuliyur Police Station and confessed to her involvement in the murder.
In her statement to the police, Kavipriya stated that Prasad continued to harass her sister despite repeated warnings. She said that after Prasad again misbehaved with Abitha on the same day, she and her husband went to confront him. During the confrontation, Prasad allegedly abused them and threatened to kill them.
Enraged by this, Kavipriya said she and her husband attacked Prasad and killed him by slitting his throat.
Based on the confession, police arrested Kavipriya. Muthukumaran, who had absconded after the incident, was later traced and arrested. Further investigation is under way.
