The Indian Air Force has confirmed that the pilot of the Tejas fighter jet that crashed during a display at the Dubai Air Show has died.
The indigenous light combat aircraft was performing a circling manoeuvre when it suddenly lost control and plunged to the ground.
The jet burst into flames on impact, leaving the pilot with no chance to eject or escape.
The Tejas aircraft had taken off from Sulur Air Force Station in Coimbatore before heading to Dubai for participation in the International Air Show.
In its statement, the Indian Air Force said a detailed investigation would be conducted to determine the cause of the accident and the circumstances leading to the
crash.
