The Delhi Crime Branch has arrested four members of an ISI-linked international arms smuggling network and seized a cache of foreign-made weapons. Acting on specific intelligence, a special team raided a hideout in the capital and nabbed Ajay, Mandeep, Talwinder and Rohan.
Investigations revealed that the gang was sourcing high-end pistols manufactured in Turkey and China, which were first routed to Pakistan and then smuggled into India—mainly through drone drops along the Punjab border. The weapons were later supplied to criminals and conspirators in Delhi and neighbouring states.
Police recovered 10 sophisticated pistols and 92 cartridges during the operation. Two of the arrested men hail from Punjab.
The network is suspected to be operating under the instructions of handlers linked to Pakistan-based terror groups. Police are now probing the total number of weapons the gang may have trafficked into the country and identifying the masterminds behind the operation.
