JSS College of Pharmacy hosts National workshop on AI

A two-day national workshop on “The Future of Neuroscience through Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning – Next-Generation Software Tools and Integrated Medical Research” began at the auditorium of JSS College of Pharmacy here on Friday with financial support from the Department of Health Research under the Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delhi.
The workshop, scheduled for February 6 and 7, is organised by JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty, an institution functioning under the JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, Mysuru.
The programme aims to create awareness about emerging innovations in artificial intelligence- and machine learning-driven drug discovery and their growing role in integrated medical and pharmaceutical research.
The inaugural session commenced with Tamil Thai Vazhthu, followed by a prayer rendered by the students. Dr. R. Kalirajan, Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, delivered the welcome address and outlined the academic significance of the workshop. The programme was formally inaugurated by the dignitaries by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Dr. S. Gomathi, Organising Secretary from the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, explained the objectives of the workshop and highlighted the transformative impact of AI and ML technologies in modern neuroscience and drug development. Presiding over the function, the Principal of JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty, Dr. S. P. Dhanabal, emphasised the institution’s commitment to promoting multidisciplinary research, innovation and industry-academia collaboration.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Shashank K. Prasad, Associate Professor, Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, School of Life Sciences, JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, Mysuru, spoke on the importance of integrating computational tools in biomedical and clinical research. Special Guest Dr. Dharam Veer, Division Head, Department of Research and Development, Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi, stressed the need for collaborative research and technological advancement in pharmaceutical sciences.
Following the inaugural ceremony, scientific sessions commenced with expert lectures, hands-on training programmes and interactive discussions.
The organisers said the workshop would serve as a national platform to encourage collaborative research and knowledge exchange in neuroscience, pharmaceuticals and medical sciences.
