KASC Marks 19th Graduation Day with Inspiring Address to Students

The 19th Graduation Day of Kongunadu Arts and Science College (KASC) was held with great enthusiasm and academic fervour. Prof. Dr. M. Krishnan, Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Tamil Nadu, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Among the dignitaries present were Dr. C.A. Vasuki, Secretary and Director of KASC, Dr. V. Sangeetha, Principal and Dr. O.N. Paramasivan, Treasurer of the institution.

Delivering the graduation day address, Prof. Dr. Krishnan reflected on the importance of remembering one’s roots and remaining grounded despite future success. He encouraged the graduates to focus on building meaningful and purposeful lives. He reminded students to remain grateful to the three major pillars behind their academic journey — their parents, teachers and educational institution — acknowledging the sacrifices and support extended by each of them.

He highlighted that higher education should not be viewed merely as a pathway to obtaining a degree, securing employment or earning a livelihood. Instead, education must contribute to the larger good of society. Stressing the social responsibility that accompanies knowledge and professional success, he urged students to use their education, innovation and expertise for the betterment of society and nation-building.

Congratulating the institution for its holistic development approach, Prof. Dr. Krishnan appreciated the college for producing students who excel not only in academics but also in sports and extracurricular activities. He observed that the college had provided students with a nurturing and protected environment under the guidance of teachers and mentors, and said graduation marked the beginning of a new phase where students would step into society and face real-world challenges and expectations.

Pointing out that achievements are never attained overnight, he referred to the lives of several great leaders and achievers whose success was built on perseverance, discipline and sustained effort. He further stressed that education alone would not guarantee success unless accompanied by honesty, hard work, individuality and dedication.

Earlier, in her welcome address, Dr. C.A. Vasuki expressed happiness in participating in the significant academic milestone of the graduating students. She described the ceremony as not merely a distribution of degrees, but a celebration of perseverance, discipline, aspirations and personal transformation. She congratulated the graduates and described graduation as a milestone where learning meets responsibility and youthful aspirations evolve into purposeful action.

She emphasized that behind every degree lies a story of commitment, sacrifice and resilience. She acknowledged the efforts made by students through examinations, assignments, setbacks, recoveries and personal struggles, while also recognizing the unwavering support and sacrifices of parents and family members throughout the educational journey.

Drawing inspiration from the words of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore, Dr. Vasuki highlighted that the true purpose of education is to help individuals live in harmony with society and the world around them. She noted that the progress of a nation depends not merely on resources, but on enlightened and responsible citizens guided by wisdom, knowledge and strong cultural values.

She further stated that India’s rise as a global force would be strengthened through education integrated with wisdom and ethical values, adding that such progress would ultimately benefit the world at large.

Dr. V. Sangeetha presented the annual report of the institution, highlighting the academic achievements, institutional milestones and various accomplishments of students and faculty members during the academic year.

A total of 1332 graduates received their degrees from the Chief Guest, including 1068 Undergraduate students, 235 Postgraduate students, and 29 PG Diploma students.
