A graduation ceremony for postgraduate and undergraduate medical students was held at the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute, Kathirkamam, here on Monday. The ceremony was organised for the 2020 and 2021 batch MD, MS and DNB postgraduate students and the 2018–19 batch undergraduate medical students.
Chief Minister N. Rangasamy participated in the programme and conferred degrees on 278 postgraduate medical students and 51 undergraduate medical students. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister congratulated the graduating students and advised them to uphold professional ethics, compassion and commitment while serving society.
Legislative Assembly Speaker R. Selvam, MLAs A. K. D. Arumugam and K. S. P. Ramesh, Health Secretary Chaudhuri Mohammed Yasin, Health Director Dr. S. Sevvel, Indira Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute Director Dr. Udayashankar and Dean Dr. Ramachandra V. Bhat were present on the occasion.
Medical professors, graduating students and their families also attended the ceremony. The speakers highlighted the role of medical education in strengthening public healthcare services and appreciated the efforts of the institution in producing skilled medical professionals.
The programme concluded with the presentation of degrees and certificates, marking an important milestone in the academic and professional journey of the graduating students.
