Nissan names new seven seater B-Mpv as gravite for India

Nissan Motor India has announced that its upcoming all-new seven-seater B-MPV will be called GRAVITE, with the launch scheduled for early 2026. The model will be the first to roll out under Nissan’s refreshed and strategically curated product line-up for the Indian market.
Designed specifically for modern Indian families, the GRAVITE focuses on versatility, modularity and space efficiency, targeting value-conscious households.
The vehicle was first announced in July 2024 as the second model under Nissan Motor India’s renewed product offensive.
As per the company’s roadmap, the GRAVITE will be launched in early 2026, followed by the Tekton in mid-2026 and a seven-seater C-SUV in early 2027, underlining Nissan’s long-term commitment to expanding and strengthening its India portfolio.
The name GRAVITE is derived from the word gravity, symbolising balance, stability and strong attraction. Nissan said the name reflects its vision of anchoring Indian families in comfort, connectivity and everyday practicality.
The GRAVITE will offer a spacious cabin with class-leading storage solutions and highly modular seating designed to adapt easily to varying passenger and cargo needs, making it suitable for both daily commutes and long family journeys.
The model will be manufactured locally at Nissan’s Chennai facility, reinforcing the company’s focus on producing vehicles tailored to Indian customer requirements. Nissan said the GRAVITE represents a key milestone in its ongoing product revival in India.
In terms of design, the GRAVITE will feature Nissan’s signature C-shaped front grille, horizontal proportions and a muscular stance.
Distinctive hood branding and unique rear-door badging set it apart in the segment, while the rear styling continues Nissan’s C-shaped interlock design theme.
Massimiliano Messina, Chairperson of Nissan AMIEO, said India remains a strong contributor to the region’s performance and a strategic hub for Nissan’s global operations.
He added that the GRAVITE reflects Nissan’s growing momentum and confidence in the Indian market.
Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director of Nissan Motor India, said the GRAVITE underscores the company’s renewed focus on India and marks a pivotal step in its transformation journey, with products developed specifically to meet the aspirations of Indian consumers.
To support the upcoming launches, Nissan Motor India is accelerating the expansion of its dealership network across the country to improve accessibility and customer experience.
