PSG College of Nursing marks Foundation day with Alumni honours

The PSG College of Nursing celebrated its 31st Foundation Day on Friday, marking over three decades of excellence in nursing education and healthcare service.
The event was held on the college premises and presided over by L. Gopalakrishnan, Managing Trustee, PSG & Sons’ Charities, and G.R. Karthikeyan, Founder Trustee and Chairman.
Delivering the welcome address, Principal Dr. Jeyadeepa R reflected on the institution’s journey since inception and credited the Founder Trustees for their vision, dedication, and commitment that shaped PSG College of Nursing into a centre of academic distinction.
She emphasized the college’s contribution to quality nursing education, professional training, and community welfare.
Three distinguished alumni were honoured for their outstanding achievements in the nursing profession — Dr. Senthilkumar T (UG–1994 Batch), Professor-cum-Principal, Lourde College of Nursing, Kannur, Kerala; Dr. Meena Putturaj (UG–2004 Batch), Assistant Professor and DBT/Wellcome Trust Indian Alliance Fellow, Institute of Public Health, Bengaluru; and Joshi Prabhu (UG–2004 Batch), Lecturer, School of Health and Society, University of Salford, Manchester, UK.
The alumni expressed gratitude to their mentors and shared inspiring experiences from their professional journeys, highlighting the college’s role in shaping their leadership and research abilities.
Prof. Dr. S. Ani Grace Kalaimathi, Registrar, Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council, Chennai, graced the occasion as Chief Guest and launched the official website of PSG College of Nursing.
In her address, Dr. Kalaimathi lauded PSG’s commitment to women empowerment, ethical practice, and evidence-based education. She noted that women constitute 60 percent of PSG’s workforce, and India has 3.5 million nurses, with 5,600 from Tamil Nadu migrating overseas post-COVID. She outlined five guiding principles for the next generation of nurses — to be lifelong learners, uphold ethics, practice evidence-based care, lead as team players, and remain resilient, inspiring students to “share the light and become the light.”
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Vice Principal Prof. Meera S, who expressed appreciation to the management, chief guest, faculty, alumni, and students for making the celebration memorable.
