Rs 2.25 Crore automated driving test track opened in Tiruvannamalai

An automated driving test platform built at a cost of Rs. 2.25 crore was inaugurated at the Regional Transport Office here on
Thursday.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched the facility through video conferencing from the Secretariat in Chennai. Following this, Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker K. Pichandi formally inaugurated the automated testing track at a function held on the RTO premises.
Tiruvannamalai MP C.N. Annadurai and Chengam MLA M.P. Giri were present. The project has been implemented as part of the State Government’s initiative to create skilled and responsible drivers. The facility includes a computerised control room built at an estimated cost of Rs. 35 lakh and modern testing lanes developed at a cost of Rs. 1.90 crore. The test track is equipped with advanced sensors and surveillance cameras to ensure transparent and error-free evaluation. An ‘8’-shaped track has been laid for two-wheelers and an ‘H’-shaped track for light motor vehicles, with the entire process monitored through a computerised
system. Pichandi flagged off the first batch of driving tests under the new automated system. Officials said all future driving tests in the district would be conducted using this technology-driven platform. District Revenue Officer I. Rampradeepan, Deputy Transport Commissioner, Villupuram Zone, Sreedharan, Regional Transport Officer K. Karunanidhi, motor vehicle inspectors and other departmental officials attended the
inauguration.
