Saudi Arabia’s oldest dies at 142

Sheikh Nasser bin Radan Al Rashid Al Wadaei, widely reported to be the oldest man in Saudi Arabia, passed away on January 11 at the age of 142 following age-related health complications.
Family members said Sheikh Nasser was born in the late 19th century, well before the formation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and lived through the reigns of all Saudi rulers, from the founding monarch King Abdulaziz to the present King Salman.
His life, they said, mirrored the transformation of the region from a largely desert society to a modern nation.
Relatives also stated that he performed the Hajj pilgrimage more than 40 times and was known for his religious devotion and disciplined lifestyle.
According to the family, Sheikh Nasser married for the last time at the age of around 110 and later became a father again.
He is survived by a vast family comprising about 134 descendants, including children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
His funeral was held in his native region and was attended by thousands of people, including local dignitaries and community leaders, who gathered to pay their final respects to a man whose longevity and life story have drawn national attention.
