St. Jude’s Annual Day highlights UNICEF theme

St. Jude’s Public School and Junior College celebrated its 46th Annual Day with a colourful and meaningful UNICEF-themed programme titled “St. Jude’s for UNICEF: By the Children, For the Children.” The event, held at the West Brooke Sports Arena, began at 5 p.m. and drew a large gathering of students, parents and dignitaries.
The celebration was graced by Gopinath T. Menon, former UNICEF State Office Chief, and Dr. Kezevino Aram, President of Shanthi Ashram, as Chief Guests. Tmt. N. S. Nisha, Superintendent of Police, Nilgiris District, attended as the Guest of
Honour.
The programme began with a ceremonial escort by the school band, followed by the hoisting of the National, UNICEF and School flags.
The school choir delivered a hymn centred on kindness, while the orchestra entertained with evergreen musical pieces.
The Principal presented the Annual Report, highlighting achievements in academics, sports and extracurricular activities.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guests emphasised the value of compassion, service and children’s welfare, sharing insights into the challenges faced by vulnerable communities around the world.
A devotional classical dance invoked blessings. Students then staged an AI-assisted cultural performance showcasing UNICEF’s humanitarian work in Syria, Africa, China, Sri Lanka, Brazil, Korea, Palestine, Ukraine and India, using dance, theatre and visual presentations.
Chief Guest Dr. Kezevino Aram lauded the programme as “extraordinary and truly, by the children for the children.”
Parents contributed Rs 3,97,824 towards UNICEF’s initiatives.
The Management expressed gratitude to parents, well-wishers and staff for their support in making the event a grand success.
