As the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections approach, alliances and seat sharing are gaining momentum, the party’s experts and data analysis unit head Praveen Chakravarthy: Manickam Thakur MP. Only a few people like ‘Congress should also have a share in the government’ are continuously raising the demand. Other parties in the DMK alliance, including the Communists, VCK, and MDMK, have not made this demand.
Meanwhile, the lack of seat-sharing talks between Congress & DMK has caused discontent in the Congress party. Speaking to reporters in Delhi on February 10, Tamil Nadu Congress president Selvapperundhagai said that the fact that an election negotiation committee has not been formed has caused discontent among the Congress party members. Congress senior in-charge Girish Chodankar had also expressed his displeasure.
In this context, the DMK announced last Tuesday that the DMK Constituency Sharing Committee will begin talks with the alliance parties from February 22. In a context where the Congress is continuously demanding a share in the government, expectations arose in political circles as to whether this issue would also be discussed in these talks.
Ministers like I. Periyasamy responded to the Congress that there was no chance of a coalition government in Tamil Nadu. But regardless, those few in the Congress kept repeating the same refrain.
That is why DMK leader and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has now put an end to this issue.
Stalin participated in a roundtable discussion organized by India Today on Wednesday. Speaking at the event, he said that no matter how many alliances are formed, the DMK-led alliance can never be defeated and that we are expecting 200 seats and will win beyond that.
When asked whether the DMK would contest the upcoming assembly elections in alliance with the Congress, Stalin replied, “We will definitely,” and also answered whether it would be given a share in the government.
“The role of governance is not the same in Tamil Nadu. We know this and the Congress knows it. Some people are deliberately stirring up this issue to cause a rift in the alliance,” he alleged.
With this, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has given a definitive answer to the voices raised by some in the Congress party regarding a role in the government.
For DMK, policy is life, as shown by the late leaders Perarignar Anna and Kalaignar Karunanidhi. There can be no doubt that Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, who acts with the courage to endure anything, is also walking on that path.
After this, considering the situation, Praveen Chakravarthy, Manickam Thakur and others should speak with political civility. The Congress leadership should not allow them to open their mouths again. There should be no deadlock even after the deadlock is broken. Otherwise, it will be like scratching your head with a burning coal.
Let’s wait and see how effectively the DMK will handle the seat sharing in the DMK alliance!
