VCK to attend INDIA Bloc meeting, says Thirumavalavan

Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) president Thol. Thirumavalavan has said that his party will participate in the upcoming INDIA bloc consultative meeting and stressed that the opposition alliance should remain united.
Addressing reporters in Tindivanam, Thirumavalavan thanked the DMK and other alliance partners for their support in the VCK’s electoral success.
He said it was too early to comment on the law and order situation in Tamil Nadu and noted that discussions on social justice issues had not yet begun.
He stated that the VCK had supported the TVK-led government despite it not securing an outright majority, primarily to prevent the imposition of President’s Rule in the State.
The VCK leader said the new government should be given at least six months before facing criticism and added that the steps taken by the government to close TASMAC outlets were welcome.
Reiterating his support for the INDIA alliance, Thirumavalavan said the coalition should not be allowed to weaken or disintegrate.
On the case registered against former minister K.N. Nehru, he said there did not appear to be any political motive behind the action at present. Thirumavalavan also remarked that his views on several policy matters were broadly in line with those expressed by Left parties, underlining the importance of protecting democratic and secular values in the country.
