SBI extends CSR support for Waste Management and Public Health initiatives

State Bank of India (SBI) Chairman Challa Sreenivasulu Setty has extended Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) support for two major community development initiatives in Tamil Nadu, reinforcing the bank’s commitment to public welfare and sustainable development.
As part of the initiative, SBI provided ₹60 lakh to the Nilgiris district administration through the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) to strengthen solid waste management activities in the district. The contribution was handed over to Nilgiris District Collector Lakshmi Bhavya Tanneeru, IAS, and Additional Collector and Project Director (DRDA) Abhilasha Kour.
In another significant CSR initiative, SBI sanctioned ₹99.40 lakh for the installation of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) at key public locations through the Rotary Club of Chennai Towers Charitable Trust. The support is aimed at strengthening emergency cardiac care infrastructure and enabling timely life-saving interventions. The contribution was received by C. Krishnachander, Chairman of The Rotary Foundation and Trustee of the Rotary Club of Chennai Towers Charitable Trust.
Senior SBI officials, including Chief General Manager Vivekanand Choubey, General Manager Haritha Poornima, Deputy General Manager S. L. Arun and Regional Manager C. Jawahar, participated in the event. SBI said the initiatives reflect its continued commitment to nation-building through sustainable community development and public welfare programmes.
