Jellyfish spotted along Tiruchendur shore; devotees warned

Coastal security personnel have issued a warning to devotees after jellyfish were spotted along the Tiruchendur beach on Thursday.
Thousands of devotees visit the famous Arulmigu Subramania Swamy Temple in Tiruchendur every day and traditionally take a holy dip in the sea before offering prayers at the temple. As devotees were bathing in the sea on Thursday, several jellyfish were noticed floating near the shoreline.
Officials said contact with jellyfish could cause severe skin irritation, burning sensations and itching. In view of the potential risk, devotees have been advised to exercise caution while entering the sea.
Coastal security personnel have been making continuous announcements through public address systems, urging bathers to immediately return to the shore if jellyfish are spotted in the water.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have appealed to devotees to follow safety instructions to avoid any health complications while bathing in the sea.
The warning has prompted increased vigilance along the beach, particularly as large numbers of pilgrims continue to visit Tiruchendur during the ongoing pilgrimage season.
